Do I have to wear my garments all day?
As the name implies, day-time garments are designed to be worn throughout the day. Compression therapy is the cornerstone of lymphoedema and lipoedema treatment. Your lymphoedema or lipoedema needs continuous compression treatment. Therefore, your garments have to be a regular part of your life.
When you put on your garments in the morning and wear them throughout the day, you will get the most benefit out of your compression therapy.
Especially with new garments, you may need some time to get used to them, which is completely normal. You can start wearing your garments for a few hours each day and increase the time step by step following your healthcare professional's (HCP’s) advice.
Keep in mind that you should not wear your day-time garments overnight. They are not designed for night-time use. You can use specific night-time garments when you need to continue your compression while sleeping.
To have the guaranteed product performance, you should replace your garment after 6 months. You should also have at least two compression garments (or two pairs of garments) so that you can wash them regularly.
What is the purpose of different compression classes?
There are four compression classes: class 1 to class 4. Higher classes apply stronger compression and vice versa. With every compression class, the pressure is highest at the ankle (or wrist) and continuously decreases along the leg (or arm).
The choice of the proper compression class depends on the severity of your symptoms. Your mobility or the presence of other diseases may also play a role.
Your HCP will decide which compression class is most suitable for your treatment and personal needs.
How do I get a garment that fits?
There are two types of garments: made-to-measure garments and ready-to-wear garments. You can learn more about the difference between these types and how measurements for your garments are taken here.
